An online conversation
Telehealth is care from a distance, through a screen, a call or written exchanges. Ask what format is offered. Ask whether you can speak back, explain something in your own words, and ask a new question.
A visit in person
An in-person clinic is another category of care to consider. Ask what the first assessment involves. Ask whether the clinician will discuss your concern before discussing a product.
The standard still matters
In guidance checked on September 17, 2026, state medical boards called for online care to meet the same care standard as a visit in person.a
That guidance requires clinicians to arrange any needed tests or examination, or refer patients to someone able to provide them.a
